- Profile
When she graduated in journalism from Wellington Polytechnic in 1989, Joelle Thomson always knew she wanted to write lifestyle stories, but it took another two years, travels through France and a stint as a flambé waitress on a far flung island in the North Sea before she realized she would become a wine writer. Her first wine column was for Capital Times in Wellington, in 1994. She has since written 14 wine books in New Zealand and writes a wine column for The Dominion Post, Waikato Times and Christchurch Press as well as editing Drinksbiz magazine and tutoring at the NZ School of Food & Wine in Auckland.
