Jane Skilton began her wine career in London and passed her Master of Wine examination in 1993. Jane is the wine editor for Food Magazine and is a regular contributor to wine publications in New Zealand, Australia and China. Her 2016 New Year’s Resolution is to update her own website, www.independentwinemonthly.co.nz more frequently.
She enjoys judging both nationally (Air NZ Wine Awards, NZ Royal Easter Wine Show, NZ International Wine Show, Spiegelau Wine Show, Hawkes Bay Wine Awards, Gisborne Regional Wine Awards, Marlborough Wine Show) and internationally (Rutherglen, Brisbane, Margaret River, Shanghai, Hobart and Tokyo).
Jane takes an active role in IMW activities; she is a member of the IMW Council and is the co-cordinator of the annual Australian IMW Educational Seminar. She founded the NZ School of Wines and Spirits, teaching the Wine and Spirit Education Trust qualifications and general wine courses to trade and consumers. In 2015 Jane was appointed to oversee administration of the New Zealand Winegrowers Education programme in China and she travels to Shanghai and Beijing each year to deliver the NZW programme to Sommeliers and distributors. She is the Wine Director for Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand and divides her time between Auckland and Wellington.
